Random Booms That Sound Like Gunshots　銃声みたいに聞こえるあの音

I'm not particularly fond of fireworks, but my house happens to be near the festival venue, so I can see them from the balcony. While I was taking a bath, the first firework went off. It's actually kind of scary when you hear fireworks without seeing them—just sudden, random booms that sound like gunshots. It really startled me.
I didn’t even feel like watching, but I stepped out onto the balcony because just hearing the noise without seeing anything was worse.
I wonder if fireworks have trends. I saw heart-shaped ones, ones that looked like Saturn with its rings, and even some that changed color after exploding.
I'm relieved it’s over for the year. Being able to hold a fireworks festival really is a sign of peace, isn’t it?

花火は特別好きってわけじゃないんだけど、家が花火大会の会場から近いもので、ベランダから見える。お風呂に入っているときに一発目の花火が上がった。花火って、実際に見えずに音だけ聞いているとすごく怖い。ランダムに大きな銃声のような音が聞こえて心臓に悪い。見たいわけでもなかったけど、音だけ聞こえるのが嫌だからベランダに出た。花火にも、流行ってあるのかな？ハート形や土星とそのリングのような形のものや、色が後から変わるような花火もあった。今年も終わってホッとした。花火大会が開催できるって平和なことだな。
