Rain

I planned to go shopping to around Nagoya station, because today is a national holiday.
But it was raining so I stopped going out; if I walked to the nearest station, I would be soake.
I will go there after work tomorrow instead.

今日は祝日なので、名古屋駅周辺まで買い物に出かけようかと思っていました。
でも雨だったのでやめました。
最寄り駅まで歩くと濡れてしまいそうなので。
あした仕事帰りに行きたいと思います。

Rain

I planned to go shopping to around Nagoya station, because today is a national holiday but it was raining so I didn't go. If I walked to the nearest station, I would be soaked.

But it was raining so I stopped going out; if I walked to the nearest station, I would be soake.

We try to avoid beginning sentences with "but" when we write but, in the US, we start sentences with it often when we speak. I thus appended this sentence to the previous one.

"If I walked to the nearest station, I would be soaked." → Nice use of subjunctive case!

I will go there after work tomorrow instead.

But it was raining so I stoppcanceled going out; if I walked to the nearest station, I would behave been soaked.

at Nagoya, around Nagoya, in Nagoya, all are okay

But it was raining so I stopped goingdidn't go out; if I walked to the nearest station, I would be soaked.

"stopped going out" sounds like you regularly go out and you stopped. "I was sick so I stopped going out."
