For a less awkward alternative, maybe, "I guess it has been forgotten, but I still remember a saying among Chinese folks..."

Thus, there will not be a situation thatin which one earns a dollar-level salary andbut spends iat an RMB-level.

Indeed, when offline, Americans earn and spend dollars, and the Chinese earn and spend RMBs; but when online, Americans gstill do the same, but the Chinese will buy items based on dollars as well.

If a demonym (label for national people) does not end with "s", we'd probably use "the". "American" is a noun but "Chinese" is an adjective.

An American can get a 100-dollar item relatively easily, but a Chinese person will spend six to seven RMBs to get it, and spend six to seven is really a big amount.
