Happiness: Ginger cat

Today I have realized that all my texts here are pessimistic. I think I should balance things out. I'm going to write a few posts about what I consider happiness. Life includes some worthy things.

Today's topic is simple - my cat.

When I was about to graduate from university, I was looking for a new home, because I wouldn't be allowed to live in a dormitory anymore. I came across posts about animals in shelters on social networks.

Once I saw him - a perfect ginger cat. He was purring and demanding cuddles in the video. I adore affectionate, ginger cats. It was my dream thoughout my studies. There were a lot of photos of such cats in my Pinterest. Maybe it's just a consequence of my admiration for lions, who knows...

So we took him, although the volunteer was a little bit strange.

My cat's name is Spiridon. Neither my boyfriend nor I chose the name. The volunteer, I guess, had named him. But we call him Ginger. It suits him much more. He's Spiridon only in his vet records.

Ginger's past is a mystery. All we know is that he was in a critical condition. Vets had to trim his ears, because they were frost-bitten seriously. And, as we knew much later, he had awful gingivitis. Vets had to remove all teeth except four of them. It cost 15 thousand rubles. That's a pretty big amount of money in Russia, believe me. But we were glad to help our cat. Don't worry, he eats without problems.

He's funny and so loud. He meows all the time, excluding his own sleeping hours and "pats" time. We think he used to be a singer or a politician in a previous life, because he's such a chatterbox. Ginger can meow in so many ways.

He can jump on you demanding your attention and affection. He's impudent when he wants something. On the other hand, Ginger is timid. It's quite a contrast.

I think he was left in the street; he almost died in that basement... We're lucky to have Ginger. And I'm happy, when I notice contentment and devotion in his eyes while I'm patting him. My little lion :)
