A period of time through my windowsill

I have to accept that only a few plants are alive on my windowsill.

The strongest one is a weed, which I don't know its name or how it comes.

I didn't cut it down as wild grass because it's nice to see a strong life when I open my window in the morning every day.

A few days ago, I found that some birds like this weed too. They like to fly to stop beside it and then chat with each other.

Yesterday I decided to take a video of the birds sitting on my windowsill, but the birds probably saw my camera and refused to come back.

I was disappointed to get my camera back but was surprised to find that the video without birds seemed to tell a story about time.

So came this video of how time flies through my windowsill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ60CGIAYRs

Feel free to give me your feedback, if you have any advice or thoughts.

A period of time throughviewed over across my windowsill / suggestion: Time passes by my windowsill A period of time viewed over across my windowsill / suggestion: Time passes by my windowsill

A windowsill isn’t transparent, so we can’t see or pass “through” a windowsill. “Over,” “across” or “by” would work, though.

I have to accept that only a few plants are alive on my windowsill.

I didn't cut it down as wild grass because it's nice to see a strong lifeving thing when I open my window in the morning every day. I didn't cut it down as wild grass because it's nice to see a strong living thing when I open my window in the morning every day.

“Cut it down” implies that it’s fairly large, like a bush or tree. We normally “pull” weeds (pull them up out of the soil, roots and all. “As wild grass” doesn’t really make sense. You could say, “I didn’t pull it out as one normally would a weed, because….”

I was disappointed to get my camera backat first, but was surprised to find that the video without the birds seemed to tell a story about time. I was disappointed at first, but was surprised to find that the video without the birds seemed to tell a story about time.

"I was disappointed to get my camera back" makes it seem as if you gave your camera to someone else and then got it back. It's THE birds because you mentioned the birds earlier in your essay, so you are referring to specific birds, rather than birds in general.

I was disappointed to get my camera backretrieved my camera with disappointment but was surprised to find that the video without birdsbird-free video seemed to tell a story about time. I retrieved my camera with disappointment but was surprised to find that the bird-free video seemed to tell a story about time.

“Disappointed to do X” means that doing X caused you to feel disappointment, so “I was disappointed to get my camera back” means the fact that you got it back made you feel disappointed—you wished you hadn’t gotten it back. Instead, you mean “disappointedly” or “with disappointment.”

“So came” isn’t wrong, but it sounds very literary. The phrase “time flies” usually describes a situation where time seems to pass very quickly—a lot of time passes but it feels very short. Like 嵗月如梭. To me, this video feels more like time is slowing down than flying. It’s very peaceful. :-)
