My wife told me yesterday that she couldn't buy any toilet paper and rice.
People in Japan now are stocking up on anything. One reason is that schools are closed from today for a while due to the new corona virus so many patents have to prepare lunch for their children at home. Many of them are dual-income families so they have to meal prep. The other reason is that someone spread the false rumor on the internet that toilet paper would be insufficient because toilet paper is made from the same raw materials with disposable masks and those are made in China. Many people believe that and many things are now being sold at supermarkets.
What a nuisance.

Overall great job! I agree that this has been a really annoying issue! I didn't know that it was due to a rumor, but that makes a lot of sense. I thought it was pretty weird that people were stocking up on toilet paper of all things...
