Pros of Dynamic Typing

I used to be a serious proponent of statically typed programming languages, but have since reluctantly given up that notion. After reading a few of Paul Graham's essays about Lisp, I started to call back into question my reasons for supporting static typing. Over the course of the next few months, I became increasingly open to the other side's way of thinking. Even though I consider myself relatively open minded, changing my mind on this ended up being a difficult task; the vast majority of arguments online supporting dynamic typing rely on a flawed understanding of how static typing works, so I had to search exhaustively before finding anybody who made sense while supporting the dynamic view. I was excited after finally finding a few of these kinds of people. They were able to explain concepts and preferences that I'd felt before but been unable to put into words, which was very satisfying.
