Thank you for your encouragement. In fact, I don't think my English is that good. I can't speak English fluently, and I can write in English, but I often make grammar mistakes. So I still need to improve.

Cantonese is like a foreign language to me. I can't speak it, I can't understand it, but I listened to many Cantonese songs that were sung by some very famous Hong Kong singers.

That Beijing uncle will be my role model. I hope I can be as good as him in English. So when I travel overseas, communication won't be a problem.

I don't need to speak English in my daily life. In my city, all the people are Chinese and it is very rare to see an English speaker.

But I still want to learn English. I don't want to waste my spare time, I want to improve myself. Although learning a language is so difficult, it brings me a lot of joy and kind, friendly people.

It sounds weird and unnatural to hear something negative (can't) and positive (can) and then "but...". You could also separate it into two separate sentences if you prefer that.

Ah! In english, we only call our parents brothers(or brother in laws) uncles, maybe it would be best to explain who he is first like "My language exchange partner knew a man whose english was so good that he traveled the world". I got what you were saying since I speak Japanese too, but people who only speak english would probably be confused.
