A Funny Video

I watched a video tonight. It was made by an Australian who used to work for the army.

That guy was talking about his experience in China when he met a guy working for the PLA.

There are too many contradictions and the producer's self-assumed hypotheses in that video.

Most people living in China would notice those parts.

I told a friend it was funny, and he said maybe that guy didn’t care that we could notice those problems because some people believed the story was enough for him.

That’s true.

Corrections

That guyHe was talking about his experience in China when he met a guy working for the PLA.

"he" is more polite than referring to "that guy".

There awere too many contradictions and the producer's self-assumed hypotheses in thate video.

Most people living in China would notice those partissues.

"issues" is a better descriptor for the two problems with the video.

I told a friend it was funny, and he said maybe that guy didn’t care that we could notice those problems because some people believeding the story was enough for him.

That’s true.

You could also say "I agree with my friend".

Feedback

It's easy to making sweeping assumptions about other cultures, so everyone should exercise caution.

Good job - you wrote your opinion well.

Thank you!

You're definitely right. I was in a rush when I wrote this entry. I should add my thought in the end: every culture has its own internal logic. To communicate effectively across cultures, we should begin by focusing on the facts.

Have a nice day!

Thate guy was talking about his experience in China, specifically when he met a guy working for the PLA.

I'm lacking the technical explanation for this change, but "that guy" can be changed to "the guy", "this guy", or "he". Using "that guy" sounds like you are pointing out who you are talking about, but you already did that in your previous sentence.

Question: What is the PLA?

There are too many contradictions and the producer's self-assumed hypotheses in that video. In the video, the producer has many ignorant hypotheses and contradicts themselves frequently.

Had a little difficulty determining what you were trying to say in this sentence. I corrected it with respect to what I thought you meant!

Most people living in China would notice thoese parts.

I told a friend it was funny, and he said: maybe that guy didn’t care that we cwould notice thoese problems because some people would believed the story and that was enough for him.

This is a complex sentence so good job trying it! Made some small adjustments, but if you were to send say this to a friend they would definitely know what you mean!

That’s true.

Keep it up!

What was an assumption he had that wasn't true, I'd like to learn!

Thank you!

PLA = Chinese People's Liberation Army. What they do is disaster relief and border defense work.

A classic assumption was that he thought Chinese people didn't have the guts or opportunity to criticize the government. But actually, even an elderly uncle in my neighborhood can call a hotline to rage against the municipal government because the road reconstruction that started at 7 a.m. interrupted his grandson's weekend sleep. There is also an app made by the central government to gather opinions and criticism from people. Every country has its problems to resolve, but assumptions from outside might be just a joke. -- I don't like to talk about politics because I think it all belongs to the people in their own country. Just to explain why I think it was funny in that video, and want to confirm that I used the right English words.

Have a nice day!
