Shipwrecked on Mogmog
The island of Mogmog is one of the most remote place on Earth, and for the next sixth months it will be home to the Barrie family from Australia. Last month, the Barries (1) went sailing across the Pacific when they were caught in a storm. While hurricane-force widns (2) were blowing across their boat, they decided to head for the safety of Mogmog. Unfortunately, their boat was damaged when it (3) was approaching the beach. The Barrier's daughters were especially pleased to meet the local children after they (7) had spent months at sea. Now they spend time playing on the beach, but it's not all fun in the sun. Before the accident, they (8) had been studying online with a teacher in Australia, and once they arrived on Mogmog, their lessons started again!

"sixth" is not correct here.
Also, when you use "one of the most remote places", you are saying that there are many remote places, so it should be plural!
Last month, the Barries (1) wentre going sailing across the Pacific when they were caught in a storm.
Because getting caught in a storm happened while they were sailing, you should use past continuous here.
While hurricane-force widnds (2) were blowing across their boat, they decided to head for the safety of Mogmog.
Be careful of spelling!
Unfortunately, their boat was damaged when it (3) was approaching the beach.
It hit some metal that American soldiers (4) had ledft there sitxty years ago.
The past tense of "leave" is "left", not "led"! "Led" is the past tense of "lead", which doesn't make sense here.
