When I was a university student, I taught math, scientific subjects, and English as a tutor. Even people who can't speak English was able to teach grammar and simple sentences. One of my students appeared to grow up in deprived environment. I was terribly sorry for earning from his single mother.
However, I also disgusted that the son was unwilling to study diligently. Though I know that most things learned at school are useless in daily life, I guess that being good at studying something is essential to develop one's career. Fortunately, most Japanese people aren't good at English, acquiring English test certification isn't easy but effective way to get job. Skills which require a lot of efforts are great advantage.
