Recently I'm thinking a lot about my sleeping habits. I used to force myself to wake up earlier, but after many failures I gave up on that idea. I'm definitely a night owl who loves sleeping. That's exactly who I am, it's my nature.
I'm most comfortable after sleeping for seven up to eight hours. Although I need many hours of sleep in order to feel rested, I often go to bed too late. The reason for that is because I'm definitely the most productive in the late afternoon and in the evening. I usually don't even notice when the time passes and suddenly it's 11pm. My current job suits well to my sleeping preferences, because I never start work before 2pm. Therefore, I can calmly sleep until 9-10 am. I often go to bed around 1am.
I almost never have problems to fall asleep, after laying my head on the pillow for less than 10 minutes I'm already asleep. I wish I needed so little time to get up too! Getting up is very difficult for me, I can be awake for even an hour, just lying in bed and doing nothing and still don't really feel like getting up. I know it's a waste of time, but it's stronger than me and I still do it quite often.
Sometimes I can't fall asleep when I worry about something or when it's too bright in my bedroom. I can't stand when it's hot in my bedroom at night! Funny thing is that although I don't consider myself a light sleeper, I immediately wake up every time I hear the alarm clock, even if it's somebody else's, not mine. If someone touches me or calls my name when I'm asleep I can also wake up at once, but every time I fall back asleep very easily.
I've been in a romantic relationship for seven months. It's the first time when I'm with someone and we're madly in love with each other. The first time when I woke up beside my boyfriend I felt so happy I can't even find words to describe that feeling of ultimate bliss. We don't live together yet, only during some weekends when we visit each other we have a chance to sleep together, so I noticed sometimes I miss him horribly when I'm trying to fall asleep by myself, when he is away.
I dream a lot. Unfortunatelly I mostly remember my dreams for a short period of time and then completely forget them. I'm not sure why, but lately I've been experiencing some nightmares. They are usually about letting my friends or family down, losing my job or about death. Sometimes I wake up while I'm having a bad dream and I feel terrified, with my heart beating like crazy. But then I just tell myself: 'Calm down, it wasn't real, it's just a dream'. After comforting myself I can fall asleep again.
I sometimes feel tired during the day. When I was a university student I took short naps almost every day. Never longer than 25 minutes. I think it helped me a lot at that time. I've tried some interesting technique - first drink black coffee and then have a nap for 20 minutes. I have to admit it works wonders, gives a strong boost of energy.
