If I could go anywhere, I'd definitely like to go hiking in Oku-Nikko.
When I was a child, my family went there every summer, for just 2 or 3 days at a time. During the humid, hot months around Tokyo, the cool weather there was heavenly. I enjoyed every minute of the visits, but the best thing to me was the hiking. There, wooden walking trails were provided for easy walking and to preserve nature. As a child, I was fascinated by the idea of walking on those rather ragged wooden paths through the beautiful wetland. Every time we walked the same 6-kilo trail, but I was more grateful because of that and never got bored of it.

I looked up and saw 'boardwalks' too, but it's also used at a shopping mall on beach, so, I was not sure, but I looked it up now again, and it says 'boardwalks' are for marsh or sand. They are narrow trails in the middle of nature, though, and not like a shipping mall at all.

Yes, you should visit there sometime. I've been trying to find similar trails, but I haven't been successful for that so far.
