Is it a holiday today?
I believe today is a regular day, but I can't know until check calendar. However, I remember it was holiday named "Day of the sea" just a week ago in Japan. There are also "Day of the mountain" and "Day of the green" in Japan. Are there any strange name holiday in your country?

"green" is an adjective so doesn't take "the". Might also make sense to translate it as "Green Day" though there's also a famous band by that name which might cause confusion :)

A lot of our holidays have religious origins but the official names got rid of the religious connection, so most of our holidays are just named things like "May Bank Holiday". I guess the fact that they're called "bank" holidays is a little weird. That name is because the banks were some of the first businesses to give their employees more holidays, and then because the banks were closed, shops would close too as they couldn't bring their money to the bank. Eventually they became the official public holidays, so now "bank" holiday just means public holiday.
