July 30, 2023
I haven't swum for about two years and a half, due to various reason not limited to COVID-19. I heard that the swimming pool at the Olympic stadium had been redecorated, so this afternoon I went there with some curiosity.
According to the guide on the wall, I followed the Olympic Stadium first on WeChat with my phone, then bought a ticket which cost me 50 Yuan ( roughly $7 ). A machine scanned my face and the paid QR code and let me in. Surprisingly, no staff in the approximately 100 sq.m. reception hall, and I joined the queue for a plastic bracelet, on which printed a number for the locker that was randomly arranged for me. Some older men seemed a little bit panicked because they had no idea what to do.
Everything is new for me too.
There were eight safeguard staff in orange suits standing by while we were swimming, I remember there were only two last time when I was here. An electric speaker broadcasted loudly "As in the post-Covid era, we strongly suggest everyone swims no more than one hour. Please only do what you can in comfortably".
After swimming, the machine scanned my face again but refused to let me out. I had to ask for help from a stadium staff, and she said nothing and open the door manually. I also noticed that some other people complaining about the machines.
I plan to swim once a week if possible.
