New experience

I've been struggling with seeing things lately, so I've decided after more than 6 months to go to the doctor and check on my eyes.
The doctor have diagnosed me with a small problem with my right eye.
Well, that means that I have to wear glasses.
Both of my parents wear glasses and they hate them.
When the doctor said that I have to wear them, they became really upset and tried not to buy me any, saying that waring them will make my eyesight even worse.
After convincing them of buying them, they put a new rule: I should not wear glasses unless I'm studying.
My friend wears glasses too, and she says that I have to wear them in my daily life, and I agree with her actually, that's what the doctor said, but my parents are really narrow-minded, they forbade me from wearing them even though I'm struggling. I'm actually surprised by this way of thinking, they are both engineers and must have some education.
I don't know what makes them think that glasses will make my eyesight worse, even when the doctor told them that my eyesight will not get any better but the problem will grow or only stay like this and that's normal.

أعاني من ضعف في الرؤية مؤخرًا، لذا قررتُ بعد أكثر من ستة أشهر زيارة الطبيب وفحص عينيّ.

شخصني الطبيب بمشكلة بسيطة في عيني اليمنى.

حسنًا، هذا يعني أنني مضطرة لارتداء النظارات.

كلا والديّ يرتديان نظارات ويكرهانها.

عندما أخبرني الطبيب بضرورة ارتدائها، انزعجا بشدة وحاولا عدم شرائها لي، قائلين إن ارتدائها سيزيد من ضعف بصري.

بعد إقناعهما بشرائها، وضعا قاعدة جديدة: يجب ألا أرتدي النظارات إلا للدراسة.

صديقتي ترتدي نظارات أيضًا، وتقول إنني مضطرة لارتدائها في حياتي اليومية، وأنا أتفق معها في الرأي، هذا ما قاله الطبيب، لكن والديّ ضيقا الأفق، فقد منعاني من ارتدائها رغم معاناتي. في الواقع، أنا مندهشة من طريقة تفكيرهما هذه، فهما مهندسان، ولا بد أنهما متعلمان. لا أعلم ما الذي يجعلهم يعتقدون أن النظارات سوف تجعل نظري أسوأ، حتى عندما أخبرهم الطبيب أن نظري لن يتحسن ولكن المشكلة سوف تكبر أو تبقى هكذا وهذا أمر طبيعي.
