Napoleon III, Meiji Emperor, and Shogunate (1)

I haven't thought there might be any connections between Napoleon III and Meji Emperor before, because they were too far from each other. Both of them were emperors in France and Japan separately in the 1860s.
Since this article I am going to write is not serious academic writing, I will not give an accurate date.
I saw a post from a website describing the movie The Last Samurai, which was a Hollywood blockbuster stared by Tome Cruise. I haven't seen the movie before, I will see it one day, however. The author gave us a true story behind the movie which let me interested in why Napoleon III was against Meiji Emperor in the 1860s.
At that time, the Meiji emperor lived in Kyoto while Shogunate was adjacent to Tokyo. Emperor in Japan has only been in a ceremonial position for over 1,000 years, on the contrary, the shogunate held political and military power.
Napoleon III won battles after battles across Europe around the same period. He was involved in a civil war in Japan, fortunately, he failed, or the Meiji Restoration would have failed too.

Napoleon III, Meiji Emperor, and the Shogunate (1)

I haven'tnever thought there might be any connections between Napoleon III and the Meiji Emperor before, because they were too far from each other.

Both of them were emperors, in France and Japan separatrespectively, in the 1860s.

The "respectively" isn't required, but it makes it clearer and feel more natural.

Since this article I am going to write is not serious academic writing, I will noon't give an accurate dates.

There are two dates, that of Napoleon II's coup and the Meiji Restoration, so you would use the plural. "will not" is accurate but most native speakers will use contractions where possible.

I saw a post from a website describing the movie The Last Samurai, which was a Hollywood blockbuster stared byring Tome Cruise.

Or "starred in by", "featuring"

I haven't seen the movie, before,ut I will see it one day, howeverone day.

You can drop the second verb since you already made your meaning clear.

The author gave us a trueexplained the real story behind the movie which legot me interested in why Napoleon III was againstcompared to the Meiji Emperor in the 1860s.

"Adjacent to" actually means next to, which doesn't make sense here.

Good writing overall! I never thought about them that way either, but I think that's an interesting viewpoint.

Before being named Tokyo, the place was called Edo. There are some small differences in the area.

I know, but generally with geography you would use the word "in", even with slight differences. Or, you could say "the Shogunate was based in Tokyo, known at the time as Edo."
