My niece
My niece was admitted as a civil servant of Hangzhou city and there are more than 400 people competing for the position.
I knew she had been a smart girl since she was at elementary school because I checked her homework.
When she graduated from university she helped her family do some business, meanwhile she prepared for civil service exams and recruitment of public institutions.
This time she did a great job and I am so glad about what she has done.
Although she failed a few times, I believe she would be successful soon or later as long as she tries her best.
Finally, she did it.
I hope my offspring may not be officers, may not be millionaires, but they must have clever brains and hardworking hands. As long as they have that, they will live better and be happy.

One thing I'd add is that "whilst" is a very British-sounding word (in America, we'd say "while"). It's definitely correct, but it's never used in the US.
