The typical usage of this structure is “I’d like to tell you <something positive>, but <something negative>.”

Eg: “I’d like to tell you this has been fun, but it hasn’t.”

If you want to invert this, it would be more “People always say beginnings are difficult, but I’ve found everything to be fantastic.”
