In the spring of 1989, I was transferred to a new department, which was in my hometown.
The department was a little far from downtown. It was about 6.5 kilometers, so around my department were all villages.
The roads to the city from my department were not good. They were bumpy.
My colleagues and I rode bikes to work. (Some of them had houses in the city, but I didn't have a room in the city because I was born and raised in a small village that was far away from the city. So I lived in my workplace).
The department houses were just a few rows of bungalows and looked very shabby.
Inside my workplace, apart from a few paths, there were large open areas with wild grass. In summer, the wild grass grew rapidly, and after a rain, there were many toads in the grass.
My department was surrounded by a square-shaped brick wall. The entrance of my department was in the middle of the western wall.
In 2020, the land that my workplace covered was sold to a real estate company by the local government, so my former department was dismissed.
Now, on the site of my former department, all you can see are many rows of tall residential buildings.
