My Favorite Social Media

I love Reddit so much.

Now-a-days, world is going to sh*t. We're living through a pandemic, a war, a economic recession, a mental heath crisis, and environmental collapse. That said, the trending posts on Instagram are fake and edited versions of life. It makes no sense.

Social media changed our lives for the worse. We have the most powerful tool in our hands, but we keep chasing unrealistic goals. This needs to stop.

I quit using most social media apps a long time ago. But, one of the few social media that I use to this day is Reddit. As far as I know, Reddit and Quora are the only established social medias that focus on content rather than individuals. Quora is a forum platform where you can ask almost anything; Reddit is a social network of communities where you are pseudo-anonymous.

Reddit is organized into subreddits (topics) where you can make posts. People will read, comment, and upvote/downvote your post or comments. Upvoted posts are more relevant than downvoted posts, so chances are you'll see what the people in the community thought was interesting. The only information you can gather about the poster is their post and comment history.

This type of structure changes the focus from who is posting to what they are posting. And that's why I love Reddit.

Some subreddits that may interest you:

• r/AskReddit
• r/worldnews
• r/MadeMeSmile
• r/todayilearned

Thanks for reading. See you tomorrow. And, have great day.

Great job! One more note: try to use compound sentences rather than starting a sentence with "and", "but", or "so. It's not necessary though, so it's fine if it is a stylistic choice.

Thank you for your correctios. I was unsure if I could use compound sentences in English, as I seldom read English literature, but I'll start using them and read more.

It makes no sense.

If you’re referring to the posts not making sense, this would be plural: ‘They make no sense.’ If you’re talking about the general topic making no sense, your current sentence is good.

Social media changed the our lives for the worse; we have the most powerful tool in our hands, but we keep chasing surunrealistic goals.

the past tense of quit is also quit :)

Also media is technically already the plural form of medium, so people tend to use social media as both singular and plural. To be more specific, you can say ‘I quit most social media platforms’.

But, one of the few social medias that I use to this day is Reddit.

Thanks for the interesting post today. I enjoy Reddit a lot too! I find lots of useful information on there, including reviews for products I want to buy.

And that's why, the cult to personality is toxic.

I think it got lost in translation; I don't know if there's a equivalent in English. There's cult of personality in Wikipedia, but it would be more toward dictators.

In Portuguese, there's this regular expression "culto à personalidade" (cult towards personality). It is to worship an idealized image of someone, but it can be used in a lesser scale than a dictator or leader. An Instagram model, for example.

Thank you for reading and correcting.

Nice to see a fellow Redditor.

"I find lots of useful information on there, including reviews for products I want to buy."
Agreed. Most reviews on YouTube or Instagram are just advertisings.
