My Boss's Behavior
Our company doesn't allow us to work from home yet, so we have to go out to work every day.
The staff members who have children can take special paid holidays besides normal paid holidays as the schools are closed.
My boss takes a day off once a week using this special holiday system for his youngest son, 11 years old.
11....I'm wondering if the children more than 10 years old sill need to be taken care of? Even though he lives with his parents...
He makes a phone call every three hours to us during the holiday and asks "Is there any matter I have to deal with?" We say no, then he starts to speak about some topics on the TV news.
Analyzing his behavior, I guess he just doesn't want to work and take a day off, but he isn't needed at all by his family in his house. So he feels lonely and often makes a phone call to us.
Do you think my guess is wrong?😆

うちの会社は在宅勤務を許可してないので、我々は毎日出社しないといけない。
学校が閉鎖しているため、子供がいる社員は子守のために、有休の他に特別休暇をとることができる。
うちの上司はこの休暇制度を利用して、一番下の11歳の息子さんのために、週に一度、休みをとっている。

しかも、上司の両親も同居しているのに。。。
上司は、休みの間、2時間おきに会社に電話して「何かある？」と訊いてくる。何もないと答えると、テレビのニュースの話題について話し出す。
彼の行動を分析するに、ただ仕事をしたくないから休んだけど、家で家族から全然必要とされないので、寂しくて我々に電話してくるだろうと推測した。
私の勘は外れてるだろうか？😆

I suppose you could use "holiday" for this if you really wanted, but I feel "leave" is more appropriate.
