MTV
In Taiwan, we have a place called MTV (not the television channel). It provides a tiny room with a sofa bed where you can watch movie DVDs. You can also order food or bring your own. The price is cheap, around 150 TWD (5 USD) per movie, and it includes a drink. Most customers are couples or students, but I always go by myself. Sometimes, if I want to be alone but don't want to stay home, I go to MTV. Yesterday, I went there and watched the movie Oppenheimer.

In the US, a sofa bed is a type of sofa that can be converted to a bed, with sheets, pillows & blankets, often used by overnight guests. I wouldn’t call any of the sofas I saw in Taiwanese MTVs in the ’90s sofa beds. Maybe “chaise lounge”?

I’m happy to hear that MTVs still exist in Taiwan. Can you watch other streaming programs besides movies? For example, could you rent a room and watch a volleyball game on YouTube for a couple hours? I would enjoy that. :-)
