I have a couple of things to say for this one.

First of all, I was casually enjoying it from the beginning until closure part comes up and changes my ideaI watched the ending, which changed how I felt about this movie.

Don't get me wrong, on an emotional level I cried and enjoyed the unnecessary death of the main lead anyway BUT still, it left me disappointed and kind of lost regarding the plot in general.

On top of every hole throughout the plotplot hole that they didn't bother torector/scriptwriters faill uped to explain , they left us uninformed aboutin the dark (more idiomatic) as to the reason/cause of the main lead's unexpected and unnecessary sudden death.

I wouldn't use the term "plot hole" so literally

How come it serves the plot or anything?is it even relevant to the plot?

It started as a high school sweet&sillysweet and silly (cheesy) high school romance and for such a dramatic ending, there wcould have been many other ways to make the audience emotionally impressed.

Despite the poor ending, actingthe performances are great and it is okay to watch if you are looking for a light-hearted movie with some high school romance.
