Maybe prompted by the english "take a walk", in French it is incorrect to say "j'ai pris une promenade". It seems we use the verb "prendre" when we talk about grabbing an object (prendre un livre, prendre un café, prendre son pull) OR when we talk about time (prendre un moment, prendre du temps, prendre une pause, prendre une heure pour...). To describe a movement, distances, we use the verb "faire" (faire un tour, faire une promenade, faire une longue randonnée). This gives you several options to express yourself : - J'ai fait un tour avec mon chien et mon fils. (this is more on the familiar register : "un tour" suggests it is a short walk around your neighborhood) - J'ai fait une balade avec mon chien et mon fils. ("balade" is a synonym for "promenade", you can also use it as a verb : balader, se balader) - Je me suis promenée avec mon chien et mon fils (here we use the verb "promener" au passé composé)

It would be redundant to use "mon histoire" when two words later you precise you're the one to write it. You have to pick one between the two : either say "sur mon histoire" although it might be less precise, or "sur l'histoire que j'écris".
