'Text' is male, nominative, singular, therefore the form should be 'erster'

The German word 'Weg' only really works as a physical path from A to B, 'the way to do sth.' is 'die Art, etw zu tun'.
Unless you study German philology at an university, 'lernen' is the right verb here.
