"Teachers", plural, in general. Also perfectly fine is "A teacher should..." "origin" instead of "origination" because the second refers to the generalized noun version of "origin" and is a bit overboard (usage).
Jack got a minor ailment.
Not technically incorrect, just a bit strange to pair the very casual "got" with the upper-level "ailment." More approriate here would be: "contracted", "came down with", or simply "has".

I'm not sure how you would pit an entire country against another... You don't just mean to compare favorably to, do you? Pit is a bit more pugilistic than that--more likely used to describe a fight. So pitting your sons against each other by offering only one dessert, for example.
