My father walked into the kitchen and told me that Uncle Ye had died, when I was eating a persimmon after lunch. I was a little surprised and just responded, "ha?" He repeated himself twice. I inquired once more to ensure that I had fully grasped the situation. "How?" I inqired. My father said,"he was taken to the city hospital at 10 o'clock last night. The doctor requested that he perform a by-pass operation, but he declined. He passed away this morning at 8 o'clock." I was really stunned because I had seen him a few days before, and he looked so good. Furthermore, I had never heard that he has any heart problems. I had lunch with him in August, he was the person who ordered the menu. All the food were pretty healthy. He also had a good attitude of life: eat heathily, do exercise, and never be upset. He seldom argued with someone, since he always talked slow and in a low voice. What he expected was retirement. According to all these, I thought he would live for decades.
I am also confused that when he was in hospital, his wife still stayed at home instead of staying by his side. The distance was only 30 km between her residence and the hospital. His niece was the only one who stayed with him. Until this morning, his wife still stayed at home, and was noticed his dead by the doctor. Why did he refuse to get surgery? It seemed that he desired to live a long time. I would never get the answer, never. Things happened in a flash. Life is so fragile.
All I can do now is enjoy my life.

It's not incorrect but it would sound more natural to say "he looked perfectly fine/healthy". Saying someone looked good implies they looked attractive.
