Living together!

Should students live in a shared apartment?

It is usually very expensive for students to rent a private apartment. Many students rent an apartment together so that they pay low rent. There is a specific word for this in German which is " die Wohngemeinschaft". This means a shared apartment. Generally, people use the short form of it and call it " WG".

In my opinion, students should live in a shared apartment. This is because they do not have to pay high rent and they can also make new friends.

Corrections

Many students rent an apartment together so that theyey can pay low rent.

This way is more natural.

There is a specific word for this in German which is, " die Wohngemeinschaft".

Or:

This is known in German as "die Wohngemeinschaft".

There is a specific word for this in German, and that is "die Wohngemeinschaft".

I wouldn't recommend using "which is" in this kind of sentence. ["There is"..."which is"] sounds like you're trying to talk about the nearest noun to "which" in the sentence. In your sentence this would be "German", for example: ["There is a word for this in German, which is a language spoken primarily by people in Germany, and that word is "die Wohngemeinshaft"] would be more grammatically correct. If you're talking about the "word" then you want to refer to it as "that" when it has another noun between it and the descriptor phrase.

Generally, people use the short form of it and call it " WG".

I would personally say "Generally, people abbreviate it to" WG"", but what you wrote is also fine

In my opinion, students should live in a shared apartments.

It kind of sounds a little like you're saying that all students should live in one apartment here.

This is because they do not have to pay high rent rent is lower and they can also make new friends.

Again, what you wrote is ok, but I think this sounds more natural.

Feedback

Good job!
When I was a student, I lived with 3 friends in a shared house. It was good fun, and I saved a lot of money. But it you don't get along with everyone, or someone doesn't help with the housework, there can be problems.

Thanks for the correction!

Yes, you are absolutely right about finding the right roommate. If you don't get along with your roommate, life can be very tough, and all the positives of living in a shared apartment would vanish.
