Living abroad: Challenges and achievements

One of most challenging things about leaving your country is not fitting into the new nation, and this may bring out a great fear and uncertainty in the exchange student. Also, the documentation process might be complex and stressful depending on the student's original country, and in order for the traveller to be granted with the visa is required a greal deal of money and time.
It is worth mentioning that if the student is leaving for country where his/her native language is not spoken, it is needed a basic knowledge on the target language so that the student will be able to get by with essential activities.
It is widely common for incoming students to be concerned about not having many friends or any friend at the beginning of their time abroad. I can relate to that since I have been to The USA over a year, and I had not made any close friend during the first four months due to lack of abilities with English and confidence.
Another reason for students to feel beside themselves while living abroad is the unfamiliar climate, which can be really harsh on the body and complete alter what clothes one wears. But, to someone who has never seen a snowy weahter before, it can be quite enjoyable to make your first snowman and draw an angel on the ground covered with snow.
Furthermore, once you come to realize how much you have improve your target language, you will put a grin on your face, right off the bat. You might begin to feel like you are at home, and after the first semester you will have made friends where you least had expected. When the time to leave comes up, a feeling of indecision about whether you want to depart or not will kick in, and you will have to say farewell to all your new friends with the hope of coming back soon.
In the end, you will return to your country better than you were and with more experiences and stories to tell, so enjoy your time abroad in your best way.

One of most challenging things about leaving your country is not fitting into the new nationcountry, and this may bring out a great fear and uncertainty in the exchange student.

In my opinion, I would use the word "country" here.

While "nation" and "country" have a pretty close meaning there is a slight difference in usage.

Nation is more formal and generally refers to the people of a country.

Nation can also be a reference government, like the United Nations (a group of governments working in cooperation).

Or it can also mean the the collective people of the country. The US President addresses the nation (the president is speaking to all citizens of the country).

Nation can also be used for a group of people with the same culture, such as the Navajo nation.

Country would refer to the land or place.

In English, when discussing travel, we use terms for places, so country would be the better fit here.

But be careful because "country" can also mean a rural area. "I am going out to the country" means I am going to a rural area.

Also, the documentation process might be complex and stressful depending on the student's original country, and in order for the traveller to be granted with the visa is required a greal deal of money and time.
