Learning English in Middle School
The first time I learned English was in the first year of middle school. My first English teacher was a retired old man called Muyun, hired by my school from another town. He was in his sixties when he became our teacher. He didn't teach us long before another formal English teacher was allocated to my school.
Muyun was short and thin, but he looked energetic. I can remember how he taught us to pronounce the word "are", which was a little different from how it should be pronounced. I also remember a sentence in my English textbook which was "Dongfanghong tractors are made in Luoyang."
After Muyun left our school, the teacher who taught us was a new graduate from a normal school. His English, I guess, was better than Muyun's. At least he had a more accurate pronunciation. His family name was Liu, the same as mine, and his first name was Zhengguo. In addition, he had good skills at playing table tennis.

I moved this further down in your story because it feels distracting here.

Commas should always go just before quotations.
