We really haven't explored Dijon much yet! Neither of us like spending a lot of time in busy city-centers, so it's just been now and then.

Since my job is south of Dijon, I'm considering villages around there. One for the simple commute, and two because there are a lot of cute areas here. And it's nice and quiet. Think around Nuits-St-George. :)

Nuits-Saint-Georges (which is often just "Nuits" to the locals) is a nice pick, it's calm, connected to the train and it makes you halfway between Dijon and Beaune, which is a lovely city to visit (well, I'm pretty much biased about this one, this is my hometown! But it's really splendid)

If you want a Burgundy discovery tour, feel free to ask me, I can definitely point out to quite a few places that are interesting to visit!

Nice, I'll definitely make a point to visit Beaune sometime.

I realize I used the word "région" in my post which has a specific meaning (e.g., Bourgogne-Franche-Compté) but I was mentally thinking of the English meaning, a general region, e.g. the greater Dijon area. But in fact I have been in Bourgogne since 2022. We were in Sens before. :)

Feel free to drop some recommendations of notable places to visit - I'd be interested!

This is also ambiguous in French, as "une région" can be a large area in general, an administrative entity strictly speaking or a historical region (like Burgundy or Berry)^^

> Beaune : the Hôtel-Dieu (of course), the collégiale Notre-Dame, the beffroi, all the defence walls (les remparts), the whole city center...
> Bèze : one of my favorites, it's just so nice! And there are also really cool caves to visit
> Châteauneuf-en-Auxois : a medieval village with its castle
> Commarin : nice castle, different style
> Coraboeuf : less impressive, but worthwhile thanks to the Nature surrounding it. It's located in Ivry-en-Montagne (now Val-Mont)
> Dijon : there's just so much! The Notre-Dame with its famous owl, the Beaux-Arts museum with the tombs of the Dukes of Burgundy, the Palais des Ducs, the musée d'Art sacré, the Saint-Bénigne cathedral...
> Flavigny-sur-Ozerain : a wonderful village producing a kind of anise-flavored candy (les anis de Flavigny)
> Lusigny-sur-Ouche : I love a walk along the Ouch in the upper Ouche area, and Lusigny is one of my favorite villages for this!
> Porte du Diable : it's just a gateway in the middle of the forests between Hauteville- and Plombières-lès-Dijon, but it's surrounded by many stories and said to be damned/haunted. If you're into exotic things to visit... :)
> Saulieu : the capital of the Morvan. Try the relais Bernad Loiseau if you fancy some (very) haute gastronomie
> Semur-en-Auxois : straight from a medieval RPG game. While you're there, you might want to visit the parc de l'Auxois zoo in Arnay-sous-Vitteaux

There would be so many more, in other départements, but you already have enough to keep you busy I think!
