I started to learn English when I was in middle school grade 1.
I still remember that school didn't have an English teacher. They just hired an English teacher from another town. That teacher was an old man, short, thin, and looked like he was in his sixties.
According to what I have learned nowadays, his pronunciation was not so accurate or natural.
An English sentence in my textbook that I still remember was "Dongfanghong tractors are made in Luoyang".
I learned reading, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension and translation, but not listening and speaking, because learning English in Chinese school is only for passing exams, not for speaking.
I remember that my textbooks had many English stories. I liked to read them and translate them into Chinese.
I didn't like to translate Chinese into English because I couldn't remember how to spell a lot of the English vocabulary.
In the high school entrance exam, English only accounted for 50 points and I only received 32.25 points. That was not a good score.
After middle school, I stopped learning English because I really didn't need to use English in my work or my daily life.
Now, I learn English in order to not waste my time. Over all, I think I am old and I should use my limited time to do some meaningful things.
I still remember that that school didn't have an English teacher.
You are talking about a specific school so I would clarify with 'that/the', 'that' sounds the best in this instance
Thate teacher was an old man, short, thin, and looked like he was in his sixties.
I would write 'the' instead of 'that' in this instance, but what you wrote makes perfect sense as well
Now, I learn English in order to not waste my time.
Do you mean it's a hobby or something? I would clarify this if so :3
Over all, I think I am old and I should use my limited time to do sommore meaningful things.
Overall is one word (I sometimes make this mistake too!)
/ More / meaningful things sounds nicer too.
Feedback
Well done! Really clear and understandable! :3
