Although decades have passed, I still remember my first workplace.
It was in another county named Jiashan in the east central part of Anhui province.
It was built on a small hill, and just had two bungalows. A row of small bungalows was built in the east-west direction, and another row of tall bungalows was built in the east in the south-north direction.
The small bungalow was our office and the other one was the dormitory for our students (my department is responsible for training agricultural machinery operators).
There was a small road that went from northwest to southeast in front of our office. In the southwest of our office, there was a large cedar wood.
Other colleagues had their own house, but three of us didn't, so there people lived in the office: one of my colleagues assigned to this department with me in the same year, and another colleague who was our leader. (His family was in another neighboring county).
It's been decades since I transferred to my home city, so I don't know if my first workplace still exists. Anyway, it exists in my heart forever.

Could just be me being terrible at directions but I don't quite get what you mean by 'east-west' and 'north-south', since those directions are facing opposite each other.
Do you mean the row went from east to west? In that case it would be clearer to say "A row of small bungalows ran from east to west, and another row of tall bungalows ran from north to south."

Do you mean like a forest? Then it would be clearer to say "a large wood of cedar trees". :)
