This picture was shot in the front yard of my mother’s home. The plant in the picture in Chinese is called 朝天椒. In English, it may be called pod pepper. We hire a nanny to look after my mom, and in her free time, she likes planting some vegetables in the yard. As far as I can remember, she has planted tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, green onions, Chinese cabbage and so on. Because they were planted for ourselves eating, not for sale, they have never been fertilized, and also never been sprayed with pesticides. Those vegetables just grow naturally. The majority of the vegetables we eat are all planted in the yard, we never need to worry about food safety, and we are very joyful while we eat the vegetables that are planted by ourselves.
