I’m from the countryside and I lived there before fifteen. At the time, the countryside means poverty, backwardness and ignorance. The fact is this. People from rural areas usually feel embarrassed. Everybody wanted to leave the countryside and go to a city to find a job and this opinion was very popular then. After visiting a few villages in Anji County, I found I was behind The Times. Take the Yucun and Dazhuyuan for example: wide paved roads, beautiful houses in several rows, tidy trees and flowers, like a big garden in the farmland. Farmers’ living conditions are much better than citizens'. The countryside is no longer the countryside in the past; it has developed beyond our imagination.
