I have an interesting question, and that is how long does it take when you are able to speak a second language well? Let me share with you my views: if a person is young and serious in learning, he will master a language in two or three years, but if a person who is old and is not serious in learning, then it is hard to say how long it takes when they are able to speak a language well. Maybe they can never speak, they can just read some words or understand some sentences. In my case, I started to learn English when I was in middle school, but after six years when I got a job, I didn't learn it anymore and totally forgot it quickly. Decades ago, I re-learned it for hobbies, but at the time, I just knew the meaning of the words "yes" or "no" and couldn't even know other words. About one year later, I had poor vocabulary and could just read and understand some simpler English readings. I never think about listening or speaking. Around last September, I thought I should be able to listen and speak, otherwise how can I dare to say I know English? One year has passed. I think I have made certain progress. Besides my own efforts, I should thank you to all the people who have helped me. Thank you guys very much and you guys are very kind and lovely.

Good writing! It's great that you want to re-learn English. Most of your mistakes are very small and don't affect people's understanding of what you say. I think communication is most important when learning a language! 加油 :)
