Magandang Gabi!
Ako si dimsumben. Estudyante ako at gusto kong marunong Tagalog. Napinanak ako sa Pilipinas pero gumalaw ako sa US nang isang taon lang ako dapat hindi akong magiging matatas. Gusto ko mag-ugnay sa kultura ugat at kausapin sa aking pamilya sa tagalog.
Good evening!
I'm dimsumben. I'm a student and I want to learn Tagalog. I was born in the Philippines but moved to the US when I was 1 so I didn't become fluent. I want to connect back to my cultural roots and be able to talk to my family in Tagalog.
Estudyante ako at gusto kong marunotuto ng Tagalog.
“marunong” is an adjective which translates to “skilled” or “knowledgeable.” What you initially wrote sounds like “I want to knowledgeable in Tagalog” which is ungrammatical. It should be “I want to learn Tagalog” and I wrote the proper Tagalog translation for you.
NapinPinanganak ako sa Pilipinas pero glumalawipat ako sa US nang isang taon g gulang ako dapatlamang ako kaya hindi akong maginaging matatas [sa Tagalog].
You need to specify what you are describing with “matatas” (which in this case is your Tagalog). If it wasn’t for the context, I wouldn’t have realized you were talking about your Tagalog.
Also, “matatas” is not a common word in Tagalog. Some of the better and more common words would be “mahusay” or excellent (in the langauage) and “bihasa” or skilled.
Gusto ko mng pag-ugnay sain ang aking mga pinanggalingang kultura ugat at kausapin sang aking pamilya sa tTagalog.
I’m not really sure what you’re trying to say in the culture part, but what I wrote here basically means “I want to connect the cultures I come from” which I assume are American and Filipino culture. Although that might not be close to what you’re trying to say at all, but it makes more sense.
