My daughter starts school this September, she will attend a German elementary school. The school is near to us, we were on an open day there and we liked it very much. And I am really happy that she will get to know to a third language in this receptive age.
A kislányom szeptembertől iskolás lesz, német iskolába fog járni. Az iskola közel van hozzánk, voltunk nyílt napon és nagyon tetszett. És annak is örülök, hogy még ebben a fogékony korban megismerkedik egy harmadik nyelvvel.

Nothing wrong with the ‘and’. Grammatically it is allowed. It just reads better this way.

Different preposition.
The school is near to us, we were on an open day there and we liked it very much.
'is near to us' - This makes complete sense, but we just wouldn't say it like that :)
