No need to use the word "天气" (weather) when you're talking about weather phenomenons (for example, 雪 snow, 雨 rain etc.) For example, 下雨了。 It rains. 今天下了很多雪。 It snowed a lot today. Usually you'd only use the word "天气" when you're commenting on the weather (i.e. whether the weather is good or bad.) For example, 今天的天气很好。 Today's weather is nice.
