If you struggle to remember how to spell "because", there's a song we learnt as children. You sing the spelling along to the song "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star". B-E-C-A-U-S-E... that was how I remembered it for the first couple years as a kid.

Rats and mice are different species. A really tiny rat or huge mouse is still a rat or mouse, respectively :). Rats are under the genus "rattus" (eg. rattus norvegicus, the brown rat), while mice are under the genus "mus" (eg. mus musculus, the house mouse).
And yes, the singular form is "mouse"! English has a lot of weird conjugations/declensions. Don't worry, there's native speakers who say/write the wrong things even as adults because they never understood these things.

Rats and mice are both different species of rodents. Rats are usually bigger. The word "mice" is the plural of "mouse".

Technically correct, but seems unnatural. You could say here, "That explanation makes sense to me!"
