Hydrangea Was Not Litmus Paper, ... Yes, It Was!

Two weeks ago, my daughter and I purchased a potted hydrangea for Mother's Day present to my wife.
We chose a purple flower (actually they were calyx).
Then the flower shop owner said that the color would change according to the pH of the soil just like litums paper.
I was interested in what she said, and I wanted to experiment it.
Therefore, I poured diluted vinegar, which had acetic acid. And vinegar is not a poison.

Two days later, the color was not chanegd but the flowers (calyx) started to be smaller and shrunk.
Four days later, the leaves also shrunk.
In a week, the flower completely died.

Today, I went to the flower shop and explained the detail how the hydrangea died, and asked to purchase another flower at a reasonable price.
She sold me half the price of another pot.
It was a deal.

This time, I got pink hydrangea.

Therefore, from a certain point of view, I can change the purple hyrangea to the pink hyrangea by adding an acid, just like litmus paper.
Hahaha

Two weeks ago, my daughter and I purchased a potted hydrangea foras a Mother's Day present tofor my wife.

We chose a purple flower (actually they were calyxes).

singular "purple flower" is not consistent with plural "they were"

Therefore,So I poured diluted vinegar, which had acetic acid.

'therefore' sounds too stiff here

And vVinegar is not a poison, so I thought it should be okay.

Two days later, the color washad not chanegdged, but the flowers (calyx) started to be smaller anhad shrunk.

Hydrangea Was Not Litmus Paper, ... Yes, It Was!

Two weeks ago, my daughter and I purchased a potted hydrangea foras a Mother's Day present tofor my wife.

We chose a purple flower (actually they were calyx).

Then the flower shop owner said that the color would change according to the pH of the soil, just like litums paper.

Depending on if you’re using American or British English, you could also say “colour” instead of “color”

I was interested in what she said, and I wanted to experiment it.

Therefore, I poured diluted vinegar, which had acetic acid.

Andlso, vinegar is not a poison.

Just a note here - sometimes people prefer not starting a sentence with “And”. So to be safe I would replace it with something like “also”.

Two days later, the color was not chaneged but the flowers (calyx) started to be smaller and shruinking.

To make the language more concise but your original sentence was also good.

Four days later, the leaves also shrunk.

In a week, the flower had completely died.

This change is more optional because it makes sense either way.

Today, I went to the flower shop and explained the detail how the hydrangea died, and asked to purchase another flower at a reasonable price.

Could also say “… and explained in detail how the hydrangea died”. Also optional to add in “had” before “died”.

She sold me half the price of another potanother pot at half price.

It was a deal.

This time, I got a pink hydrangea.

Therefore, from a certain point of view, I can change thea purple hyrangea to thea pink hyrangea by adding an acid, just like litmus paper.

I think this might be more of a personal preference than a requirement.
