how to show sympathy to my friend in a naughty way?

Recently one of my friends can't get back to school due to the epidemic and he is very upset.
Is 'What a pity!' used when you try to show sympathy to your friends?
Or is there any other expressions I can use in this situation?

how to show sympathy to my friend in a naughty way?

What do you mean by 'naughty'? I am not sure what you mean by showing sympathy in a naughty way.

Recently one of my friends caouldn't geto back to school due to the epidemic and he is very upset.

Or you could discard 'recently' and say: "One of my friends can't go back to school/attend school due to the epidemic and he is very upset."

Or is there any other expressions I can use in this situation?

You could say 'what a pity!' however there are more colloquial expressions that I would expect to hear more often in these types of situations such as: "That's awful", "I understand how you feel", "You're right... It really sucks", "I would feel the same way as you.." Or "That sucks" depending on the context. I hope this is helpful to you :^)

Recently one of my friends caouldn't geto back to school due to the epidemic and he is very upset.

It should be in the past tense if 'recently' is in the sentence. It is correct?

To be honest when I edited your sentence I didn't think about the reason much but just went with what seemed more natural. However, 'recently' does refer to a time that started in the past, and therefore it makes more sense to use the past tense with it.

Other examples:
My baby recently started eating food.
He recently stopped being able to swim.
Recently I have been much more irritable.

I hope this is helpful to you :D

Personally I would only use naughty for misbehaved children or things related to sex. This could be misunderstood.
Generally, I am unsure what you mean by "in a naughty way". Do you want it to sound sarcastic?

What's the difference between these two words? I'm always confused about this.😢

I often saw 'naughty' being used between friends in some series. I thought maybe it refers to making some fun with friends. But now I see. I will keep it in mind. Thank you!

An epidemic is just limited to your country, a pandemic effects the whole world. Covid is a pandemic.

Maybe "cheeky" would work better, but it has the undertone that you are making fun of your friends.
