My grandfather was recruited by Russian Army just before outbreak of World War II. He attended 3 months of military training prior to be sent to the frontline. He was as good soldier as professional military officer was. However, he was fallen into the trap by the Germany Army in Poland. My grandfather learnt Germany that way throughout the captivity of 8 months.
