Homework: Dancing at the Moulin.

Hello!

This is my highschool homework, it's due in two months but I want to complete it earlier so I will have more free time later.

Please check the attached image at the end of this writing for better context in my journal post.

This painting is beautiful, isn't it?

Well, back to the topic:

What is happening in the picture?
People are dancing and celebrating something, some people are talking together and some other people eat and drink.

What are the woman and the man doing? (a) What are they wearing?

They are dancing close, they are hugging each other.
The woman wears a beautiful white dress with some details in black.
The man wears a black suit, cream coloured pants and a black hat.

What is the man with hat next to the tree doing? (b)
He keeps watching at the woman next to the tree, he is hidden before the three.

What are the girl and the woman doing? (c) What do you think they are talking about?
They are talking, it is not very clear since the image does not show it completely but I think they are maybe talking about the food and the dance.

What are the two women and the man doing? (d) What do you think they are talking about?
I think they are flirting and talking about romance and maybe they are inviting each other to dance.

What are the two men at the table doing? (e)

They are eating and eatching the women in their next table maybe thinking to invite them.

Thank you for helping me :)

Write two questions that you would ask the characters.

Where did you get those beautiful dresses?

How did you learned to dance?

This Week’s Homework: Dancing at the Moulin.

Homework: (generally) something you take home to complete in a few days / in a day for a class
Assignment: an assigned task that usually takes a lot of time to do and is handed in later (2 weeks-months generally)

Hello!

This is my assignment from high school homework, it's due in two months but I want to complete it earlier soy so that I will have more free time later.

You could say ‘this is my assignment from biology’ or the subject for more clarity

A very picky correction:
‘Complete it early’ is how we’d naturally say the wish element:

“I wanted to get there early.” Is more natural than “I wanted to get there earlier.”

It is a very nuanced difference:
“I wanted to get there early.” Emphasises the wish aspect (pre-meditated)
“I wanted to get there earlier.” Emphasises the time (earlier)

In the context of your sentence, it is a cause and effect: you are basically saying ‘I am starting my assignment now because I want to get it done early.’ ‘I’m doing x because of y.’ In this case, the premise of the sentence is the cause (y); therefore, ‘I want to complete it early’ would be the only natural, correct way to say it.

Please check the attached image at the end of this writingmy journal for better context ion my journal post.subject material.

It should always be ‘for better context on… (subject)’, if we just used the first part of the phrase, it would feel incomplete and lack context (like an unfinished sentence !)

This painting is beautiful, isn't it?

Well, back to the topic:

What is happening in the picture?

People are dancing and celebrating something, some people are talking together and some other people eatare eating and drinking.

Always try to use anaphora:
“She saw, she felt, she heard all the same.”

This is a very natural, concise stylistic techniques that will make your English stand out and be very natural !

‘Está comiendo’ - (she/he/it) is eating - some people are eating

What are the woman and the man doing?

(a) What are they wearing?

They are dancing close, they are hugging each other.

The woman wears a beautiful white dress with some details in black.

The man wears a black suit, cream coloured pants and a black hat.

What is the man with hat next to the tree doing?

(b)

He keeps watching/staring at the woman next to the tree, he is hidden beforehind the three.

It is always: staring at or watching

What are the girl and the woman doing?

(c) What do you think they are talking about?

They are talking, iIt is not very clear since the image does not show it completely but I think they are maybe talking about the food and the people who are danceing.

The question implies that they’re talking, no need to repeat !

What are the two women and the man doing?

(d) What do you think they are talking about?

I think they are flirting and talking about romance and maybe they are inviting each other to dance.

What are the two men at the table doing?

(e)

They are eating and ewatching the women inat their next table maybe thinking to inviteabout whether to invite them to sit with them.

‘She is sitting at the table.’

Similarly with the phrase from my last few corrections, defining what the she is thinking about; ‘thinking about whether (infinitive)’.

“They are thinking about whether to leave early or stay for desert.”
“I was thinking about her.”
“I was thinking about whether to eat now or wait until later.”

‘I was thinking about whether (to do) option a or b’; using ‘whether’ in the phrase implies a sort of hypothetical reflection; the person is critically analysing whether to do something or to not, so I think it is very suitable here !

Thank you for helping me :)
