Hello,
I'm Hot Dog.
Today is Sunday and the 10k Trail Run Race is just around the corner, the next Sunday, I mean 7 days later.
When I woke up and looked at my left knee, the surface of the skin became purple.
It still ached when I touched the knee. I didn't feel worse, but the purple knee looked as though the injury was rather severe.
Therefore, I first thought that I should not run because of my knee condition.
If I trained today, my left knee might be going to ache.
I had another problem. The nearest JR (Japan Railway) station is 6.7 kilometers away from the starting point.
There is no bus available. So I need to take a taxi, which would cost about 2,500 yen.
I have to use the Shinkansen train as well, which would cost about 7,000 yen.
I wondered if I should give up and default the race.
After thinking about it for a while, I made up my mind that I would run 10k today as practice.
And in case my knee starts to ache, I will decide to default.
This is a very good idea, I think.
I ran the uphill and downhill trail practice course in my neighborhood for 10k in 1:26:26.
I felt a little pain for the first 1k, but the pain ceased after that.
Of course, I was very careful not to fall by the edge of the lawn/turf block.
There is a park in that course, or it would be better to say that that course includes a park, where a festival is being held today.
There are many people there. I felt even more energetic because I might be seen by the public eyes.
There are several stalls too.
I ate takoyaki and karaage after running. They were yummy, although a little expensive.
I drank water from the facet in the park for free, to save money.
It was yummy too.

Hi, I'm Running Hot Dog Again!
Hello, I'm Hot Dog.
Today is Sunday and the 10k Trail Run Race is just around the corner, th. It will take place next Sunday, I mean in 7 days later.
The correct expression is "next Sunday"(not "the next Sunday")
today + 7 days = in 7 days. Ex: The 10k Trail Race will take place in just 7 days. I must get ready for it!!!
When telling a story in the past tense: last month + 7 days = 7 days later
Ex: Last month I hurt my knee, but 7 days later my knee was completely healed!
When I woke up and looked at my left knee, I noticed that the surface of the skin had becaome purple.
I agree with the previous correction. Your original text sounded weird.
It still ached when I touched the knee.
It didn't feel worse, but the purple knee looked as though the injury was rather severe.
Therefore, I first thought that I should not run because of my knee condition.
If I trained today, my left knee might be going tostart acheing.
Alternative:
... might ache again.
I wondered if I should give up and defaulforfeit the race.
After thinking about it for a while, I made up my mind that I would run 10k today as practice.
And iIn case my knee starts to ache, I will decide to defaultmake the decision to forfeit (the race).
This is a very good idea, I think.
I ran the uphill and downhill trail practice course in my neighborhood for 10k in 1:26:26.
I felt a little pain for the first 1k, but the pain ceased after that.
Of course, I was very careful not to fall by the uneven edge of the lawn/turf block.
this is a bit difficult to understand, but when I translated your Japanese text, it seems that "turf" is correct.
