Rakugan, A Traditional Japanese Sweet  落雁(らくがん)

Rakugan, I believe, is a traditional Japanese sweet. It’s been around since I was a child.
I don’t eat it often, but its refined sweetness, melting delicately in my mouth, is irresistible. It has a very elegant flavor.

Rakugan is made by mixing flour from grains with sugar and other ingredients, kneading it, pressing it into wooden molds, and then drying it.
I’ve never made it by myself though.
Rakugan has quite a long shelf life.


「落雁(らくがん)」とは、日本の伝統的なお菓子だと思います。ぼくが小さい時からありますから。普段はあまり口にしません。
口の中でとろけるような品のよい甘さがたまりません。とても上品な味わいです。
落雁とは、穀類の粉に砂糖などを入れて練り、木型に押して乾燥させたお菓子です。作ったことはありませんが。落雁は結構日持ちしますよ。
