There is a girl with a round face and long cascading hair, who always likes to wear beautiful dresses. At first glance, you may feel that an elegant little princess with sweet smile is walking towards you. The above description comes from my good friend. Now I would like to formally introduce myself.
Good morning everyone. I am so glad to be here for this interview. My name is SSN. My hometown is Quanzhou,a coastal city in Fujian Province.I am always curious and eager to explore the world. During the four years in college, I was keen on participating in various activities held by the school, such as recitation and dance competitions. Besides, I also like to be a model. These are my friends' photos for me. I like to try different styles of clothes, every time I wear a beautiful dress, I feel my life is also lit up.
These days I have read an English book named The Great Gatsby, it was published in 1922 by F. Scott Fitzgerald. At first glance, the novel appears to be a simple love story, but further examination reveals Fitzgerald's masterful scrutiny of American society during the 1920s and the corruption of the American dream.
The protagonist of the novel is Gatsby, and the author described his experience from the perspective of Gatsby's neighbor Nick. Gatsby fell in love with his distant cousin Daisy a long time ago, and he met her again at a party. At this time, he was rich, and the scar that he had not been with Daisy due to poverty was finally healed, so they fell in love again. However, the Daisy right now already married. In its husband obstruct below, the relation of two people got into trouble again. Gatsby had always been a man who was loyal to love. His love for Daisy was true until death. Unfortunately, at the moment when his life ended, Daisy still did not turn back.
Evidently, this book is about love between an obsessive man and a money worshiper.Gatsby spent his whole life pursuing love. His was a great person but abandoned by the whole world. His dream was bound to fail, just like the American dream. So the true meaning of this novel is the destruction of the American dream. At the era where the author lived ,America is going towards decline.but everyone is addicted to alcohol and money. This is a flashy era,and the American dream is illusory.Tragedy is in evitable. Just like the last sentence in the book said:” So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” But for myself,I still admire Gatsby for his pure love and pessistence. All men add up to be inferior to him.
The great Gatsby is a great hero in a bad era.
“I wouldn’t ask too much of her,” I ventured. “You can’t repeat the past.” “Can’t repeat the past?” he cried incredulously. “Why of course you can!” He looked around him wildly, as if the past were lurkinghere in the shadow of his house, just out of reach of his hand.
He had come a long way to this blue lawn, and his dream must have seemed so close that he could hardly fail to grasp it. He did not know that it was already behind him, somewhere back in that vast obscurity beyond the city, where the dark fields of the republic rolled on under the night.
