Hainan Island
Hainan Island is the second largest island in China (the largest being Taiwan) and is located in the southernmost part of the country, surrounded by the South China Sea. It is also the only island-province and the province within the tropical region of China.
Hainan Province was established by the Chinese government in 1988. Prior to that, Hainan Island was a prefecture-level administrative region under the governance of Guangdong Province.
In ancient Chinese history, Hainan Island was one of the places where politicians who displeased the emperor were sent as punishment. Another such place was Xinjiang. Both Hainan Island and Xinjiang were remote and underdeveloped regions.
The establishment of Hainan Province has accelerated the development of Hainan Island. Many people flocked to Hainan Island and a considerable amount of capital was invested there.
The real estate sector is highly developed on Hainan Island. During winter, most parts of China are extremely cold. In some places, such as Heilongjiang Province, the lowest temperature can drop to minus forty degrees Celsius.
Consequently, many families are inclined to purchase a house on Hainan Island to spend the winter. As a result, real estate prices on Hainan Island are quite high. A house near the beach in Lingshui County can cost more than ten million Chinese yuan.
The highest house prices are in Sanya City, a prefecture-level city at the southernmost tip of Hainan Island, where the wealthiest people in China gather.
Sanya is also the most renowned tourist city in China. During winter, one can see numerous people on the beaches of Sanya, coming from all corners of the country.
There are numerous aspects about Hainan Island that I wish to share with all of you. Hopefully, I will write about them next time.

The Chinese government keeps considering that Taiwan is a province of China, but the fact is that Taiwan is not under the governance of China but an independent at least region.
Hainan island is the only province in tropical areas in China. The island's northernmost tip is south of the Tropic of Cancer and far away from it.

The PRC and ROC governments actually agree that Taiwan is a province, but they disagree about which “China” this province falls under. :-)

In English, tropical / the Tropics is the area between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. Half of Taiwan, most of Guangdong Province, most of Guangxi, and most (all?) of Tibet lie south of the Tropic of Cancer and, therefore, qualify as “tropical,” I believe.

A complete China comprises mainland China and Taiwan. Both the PRC and the ROC governments agree that Taiwan is a province, but at present, the PRC can't govern Taiwan and the ROC can't govern mainland China. As you said, the disagreement between them is which "China" Taiwan should fall under.
The Tropic of Cancer crosses Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan four provinces (Tibet is north of the Tropic of Cancer), so parts of these provinces are in the tropics.
