Just a quote note: "egg tarts" – I think you mean "custard tarts"? That's what we call them here in the UK anyway, not sure about the US.

Admittedly I thought it was a regional food not common in the US lol. Egg tarts or custard tarts are not common in the US, and if I were to think of the closest thing we would regularly have here, it'd be a breakfast sandwich: egg, cheese and usually a meat (bacon, sausage or ham) on either sourdough bread or a biscuit, but a tart seemed very different from that.
